Michael McClendon is an award-winning writer/director/actor for both screen and stage.  Students from his long-running acting class appear on television, commercials, stage, and motion pictures.  He was recently named one of the five "People to Watch in The Georgia Entertainment Industry."

 

 

Michael is an accomplished actor, with over 40 years professional experience.  He has appeared on stage and film alongside Tommy Lee Jones, Carroll O'Connor, Lily Tomlin, Julie  Christie, Charles Durning, Patrick Swayze, Jessica Lange and many more.  He is currently represented in Atlanta by Houghton Talent.  Michael studied with acclaimed casting director Michael Shurtleff and with Oscar-winning directors Tony Richardson and Robert Altman.

 

 

As a director, Michael easily moves between stage and film.  His recent directorial effort  STAND YOUR GROUND  (View trailer at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUli1OdF4ow) is now available to stream.  During a successful theatrical run,  STAND YOUR GROUND picked up numerous domestic and international awards including the Alaska Film Festival award for Best Screenplay.   Newly released are INSPARABLE, DEAD CHANNELS, and LOCATIONS.

As a writer, Michael's scripts and screenplays have won over 30 international awards since his first play, CITY HALL CEMETERY, premiered in New York seven years ago.  His latest project is the non-fiction novel A MOUNTAIN TOO HIGH.   (Click WRITER tab for more details.)
